Dot to Dot reviewed at Amp3.com Score: 4 (out of 5) Rock Review by Doug Cornell Every now and then I need a good dose of blistering, flaming, intense, uh.., blistering (did I say that already?) six-string electric guitar playing. Dan Gray and Second Layer more than meet this month's quota. "Dot to Dot" reminds me of Richie Blackmore's Rainbow back when they had energy. Mike Teague, guitarist extrordinare, has the chops to ascend to the top (oops, unintentional rhyme). Dan Gray possesses a menacing and powerful vocal style that would make Ronnie James Dio proud. Funny thing is, while a song like "Dot to Dot" would normally have me screaming "It's 1999 for cripesake!", this has so much energy that kinda like it. It doesn't hurt that this the production is very, very good. This is your basic guitar/drums/bass/vocals hard-rock band, but way better than anything else I've heard of this type in a long, long, time. Download if you think Richie Blackmore is God. |
